Fire & Emergency Services - Operations/Resources

Fire & Emergency Services Provides:

  • Fire Suppression
  • Primary Response Medical (emergency medical technicians/paramedic Advanced Life Support)
  • Hazardous Materials First Response and operational personnel
  • Vehicle Accident Response & Extrication
  • Disaster Operations (including hurricane, flooding, tornado damage, mass casualty incidents)
  • Service Responses (water cut-offs, cats in trees, assisting fallen patients, blood pressure checks, etc.)

In addition, the department plays an active role in our community by providing injury prevention and response public information classes including, water safety, child car seat safety and smoke detector installation We also operate a fire inspection bureau dealing with potential hazards of commercial occupancies by performing annual inspections. Personnel also perform routine maintenance of the City's almost 1600 fire hydrants.

Titusville Fire and Emergency Services is a fully paid, career fire department employing 51 shift personnel, 10 administrative personnel (Fire Chief, Chief of Operations, Fire Marshal, Fire Inspector, Training/Emergency Medical Services Manager, 3 Battalion Commanders, Public Life Safety Specialist, Administrative Assistant) and 2 full-time & 1 part-time clerical personnel.

Shift personnel (who are Florida certified fire fighters and Emergency Medical Technicians or Paramedics) are segmented into three battalions and each battalion has 17 personnel, split among 4 fire stations (1 battalion chief, 4 lieutenants, 5 driver-operators, and 7 fire fighters). Each battalion works a 24-hour shift.

The Department also utilizes community volunteers in non-fire fighting roles, including the Department's Fire Chaplain, office clerical assistance, and special projects.

The Department maintains four fire stations strategically located within its response area and has two first-run engines, 2 quints, an ALS rescue, and one brush truck. The administrative staff is located at the Fire Administration Building (across from City Hall).

Dispatching services are provided by Titusville Police Department Dispatching Division, operating on an 800 Mhz frequency. Interlocal relationships include mutual aid agreements with Brevard County Public Safety, the Kennedy Space Center, Florida Division of Forestry, U.S. Wildlife Service and Florida's Division of Emergency Management. Resource agencies include Brevard County's Emergency Management office and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
