Assists school children to cross street intersections. Hours are on an as needed basis in the early morning and/or mid-afternoon (beginning and ending of school hours which vary depending on school assignment).

PHYSICAL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have telephone service in home to be reached when needed to cover for school crossing guards on vacation/sick time or off due to an emergency. Good vision and hearing required. Must be able to use hand signals to direct traffic. Must be able to stand for one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon at street corner. Sufficient physical strength required to roll 10 lb. stop sign to middle of street as necessary.

Electronic Engineering Technician

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This is skilled technical work performing installation, test, troubleshooting, and intermediate design work on a large-scale communications, command, and data acquisition system. Experience in environmental or aerospace electronic systems preferred. Incumbent performs calibration and maintenance of analytical instrumentation, data transfer/processing and recording systems. Individual installs transducers, checks and adjusts hardware set points and process algorithms to insure reliable data throughput. Incumbent performs calibration and maintenance of electromechanical chart recorders for EPA/DER required hardcopies. Performs instrument loop checks, and periodic calibration functions to EPA standards. Installs and checks operational parameters of VHF/UHF communications equipment and antennas. Performs board level change-out, and installation on PC compatible architecture machines. Writes simple batch files, configures hard disk media, communications, and printer ports as required for system operational changes. Compiles and prints reports on telemetry, field data, and system parameters when required. Performs component level troubleshooting and replacement in an independent manner. Cross references solid-state device characteristics to replace obsolete components. Knowledge of the principles and theory of electronics and solid-state devices is required. Working knowledge of DOS, Windows, and common application software is required. Working knowledge of data interface/protocol for RS-232, Ethernet, and fiberoptic principles is required. Use of common electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, frequency counters, DVM, and function generators is required. Ability to work long hours, and overtime is mandatory. Candidate must have the ability to produce high quality solder/desolder, and cable fabrication. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate or equivalent is required with a minimum of two years of post-secondary education in the field of electronics or computer science. A minimum of 3 years direct applicable experience in environmental or aerospace electronic systems is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Subject to emergency call-out during off-duty hours and on weekends as required. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform heavy manual labor and work long hours outdoors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions. Ability to read material, speak and hear sounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This is a technical position performing responsible work in the areas of zoning and occupational licensing coordination and enforcement, and site related plans review. The incumbent may also assist the Zoning, Permitting and Site Development Supervisor in the coordination and review of construction plans to determine compliance with City construction codes. This position requires interaction with clerical support, staff inspectors, and other professionals involved in the permitting and construction process. This position reports directly to the Director of Building and Safety Director. Interprets and answers inquiries concerning code requirements. Assists the inspection staff in reviewing plans and specifications for new construction to determine compliance with applicable state and city laws/codes. Reviews codes and ordinances and makes recommendations for modifications and new requirements. Makes field inspections to clarify plans/specifications as required. Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree and/or a combination of three (3) years of responsible work as a Plans Examiner, Inspector, Zoning or Planning Technician or similar position. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Some knowledge of principles, materials and methods used in construction, some knowledge of the principles of zoning and occupational licensing, some knowledge of building standards, codes, related laws and ordinances, and some knowledge of legal and administrative regulations applicable to zoning, occupational licensing and private construction. Ability to read/interpret plans, specifications and blueprints and zoning and occupational licenses. Ability to consult with building owners, contractors, and the public to establish satisfactory working relationship.

Registration/certification as a Plans Examiner by one of the concerned agencies must be obtained within one year of employment. Must possess a Florida Operator's license. Solid Waste Coordinator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This is a responsible administrative and supervisory work involved in assisting the Solid Waste Superintendent in various administrative phases necessary for the operation of the Solid Waste Division. This position is also responsible for coordination and scheduling preventative maintenance and vehicle repairs of Solid Waste vehicles. In addition, the position oversees the cleaning and upkeep of division's fleet. Incumbent provides consultation and assistance regarding specific matters within identified area of expertise. Incumbent is expected to anticipate work assignments, exercise independent judgment and make decisions within the scope of designated responsibilities. Incumbent must work closely with Foremen and Administrative Assistant in distributing available manpower and equipment for effective operations. Plans, organizes, and supervises work flow. Reviews and generates monthly/quarterly reports. Maintains division vehicle supplies and personal safety equipment and clothing (uniform) records. Coordinates safety training, and trains and coordinates employees obtaining CDL's. Writes, edits, and communicates administrative and informational matters to staff. Assists Superintendent with administering employee performance issues and acts as liason between Solid Waste Superintendent and other members of division. Performs special projects upon request. Controls projects and admin. details such as project budgets, status reports, etc. Attends meetings as required. Must have knowledge of the organization, function, and activities of the department, ability to manage employees, knowledge of office management, operation of computer equipment and standard software, knowledge of ordinances, policies, and procedures of the City, ability to interpret rules, regulations, and policies for decision making, ability to work independently, keep complex records and prepare reports, and ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with employees, co-workers, and the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

AA degree in Business or General Education plus five years' of increasingly responsible experience in project scheduling, project coordination and customer service is required. One year's supervisory experience in fleet maintenance is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

SPECIAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred. Subject to emergency call-out during off-duty hours and on weekends as required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This is a technical position assisting in the operation of application software and systems, under minimal supervision, that are critical to the ongoing operation of the City. This may be Public Safety systems, Water Resource Systems, Financial systems or any other systems as needed. Maintains, and repairs computer software and hardware. Responsibilities include providing user support/technical support, user training, handling the daily operations, system administration, problem determination and PC/Network support as required. Requires ability to understand user requirements and operational needs. Experience in Windows NT and/or Windows 95 environment with experience troubleshooting problems. Experience with the assigned system is also desirable. Helps maintain City computer hardware and software and coordinates said services through the IS department. Drives to city sites to assist any designated IS function. Coordinates all system application activities for the Information System Manager. Networks City computers. Assists users with the assigned application, Microsoft Office or other applications. Reports all trouble tickets to the IS help desk and assists their timely resolution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associates degree (A.A.) in Computer Science or Information Systems supplemented by a minimum of two years of computer/network operations and support experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Windows NT and/or Windows 95 experience desired. Industry Certifications such as MCSE would be desirable.

PHYSICAL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This is highly responsible administrative, supervisory and technical work assisting the Water Resources Director in all phases of the Water Resources Department, including business and strategic planning. Employee is responsible for the administration, planning, budgeting, and coordination of operational and capital activities through supervision of the various division heads. This work requires a high level of administrative skill combined with technical knowledge and experience in water resources, including water treatment, water reclamation, water distribution, wastewater collection and stormwater management. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general direction of the Water Resources Director. Work is reviewed through evaluation of results achieved.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

An undergraduate degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, public administration or related field is required. A graduate degree in public or business administration is preferred but not required. A minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible supervisory experience in water and wastewater utilities is required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess experience in public utilities. Considerable ability in presenting programs and ideas clearly and concisely in both oral and written form. Computer experience: spreadsheets and word processing.
