The City operates the government access channel for the
express purpose of broadcasting government television programming. The Citys
Community Relations Division is responsible for the administration of the channel.
Media personnel film a wide variety of footage ranging from
forest fires to service related educational programs. The demand for our services finds
this division shooting footage from helicopters, the city marina, streets re-paving
vehicles, and police and fire department vehicles. Our goal is to supply educational video
regarding various types of city services and events.
In addition to general service related videos the division
also broadcasts City Council meetings, board and commission meetings, special ceremonies,
winter parade, Fourth of July fireworks, and Flag Day ceremonies. The division also
assists local news stations by providing public speakers and setup of city event related
news items.
Specific Objectives Include:
- Increase citizens awareness, understanding, and
participation in all areas of municipal government.
- Provide a liaison between media services and city departments
to determine needs and arrangements to coordinate productions and special events.
