Equipment Operator 1 Eric Smolik
Employee of the Month for November 2004

Please accept our congratulations as being selected as the City of Titusville Employee of the Month for November 2004 . Eric Smolik was employed by the City of Titusville on October 7th, 2002 as a Service Worker I. His original duties involved working in the medians on Garden St. and US1.

Eric Smolik

Eric took an interest in equipment operation and soon learned to operate a zero turn mower in very close proximity to vehicular traffic. When we the City of Titusville received our new bucket truck Eric was one of the first to volunteer for training in the proper use of the equipment, Eric learned very quickly.

Since we had been without a bucket truck for nearly two years, we had a large backlog of tree trimming complaints. Eric disposed of the backlog in two months. Afterward he began working various areas and subdivisions trimming trees to the proper heights as required by ordinance.

Due to his work ethic and skills Eric was promoted to Equipment Operator 1 in May, 2004 . After the recent hurricane events, Eric's skills with the bucket truck and chainsaw proved invaluable. To help protect our citizens he has made dangerous situations safe in short order while working long hours nearly every day of the week.

Eric stays always stays busy, he is constantly looking for situations that can be improved. He never complains about any assigned task and has never had or caused a work related accident. This is commendable considering the traffic situations he encounters on a daily basis.

Twice in the past year, Eric has been selected by his peers as the Streets Division Employee of the Month. Eric's work ethics and careful use of the bucket truck has allow him to "rise above" the average worker.
