of the Month for November 2003 Sgt. John Richardson of the Titusville Police Department City's recognition team's choice for Employee of the Month for November 2003 was announced. Our Citywide Employee of the Month is Sgt. John Richardson of the Titusville Police Department. Just to give a little background on Sergeant Richardson, he achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout at age 17 and was the Assistant Scout Master. At that time he began his career at the Titusville Police Department as an explorer, attaining the rank of lieutenant. John became an auxiliary police officer in August 1983 and was hired as a full-time patrol officer in January 1984. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1994 and has held the positions of patrol sergeant (twice) and training sergeant. In his current assignment as the "Mod Squad" sergeant, his responsibilities include recruitment, training, our volunteers, the department computer system, and the police radios. John has an Associate's Degree from BCC and is currently taking on-line classes from the University of Alabama to attain his Bachelor's Degree. |

| In addition to numerous commendation/appreciation letters
from his peers, citizens, and other agencies, John has received the Lifesaving Award for
performing CPR on a gunshot victim; a Meritorious Service Award for rendering first aid to
a plane crash victim and staying with the victim until fire/rescue units arrived, even
though there was the imminent possibility of an explosion; Exceptional Duty Awards for his
achievements in biohazard/blood borne pathogens and for securing encrypted radio channels;
the Honorable Service Award; Officer of the Month twice; a Unit Citation five times, and a
Good Conduct Award. In October of 2003, Sergeant Richardson was given the honor of being
chosen as one of the Police Department's Top Achievers and, as such, will participate in
the selection of future Top Achievers. John has been actively involved in the career development process, biohazard/blood borne pathogens training, and CPR training. For many years John was also the training captain for Bellwood volunteer firefighters. He is intelligent, conscientious, resourceful, kind, courteous, compassionate, and tenacious. Worthy of note--Sergeant Richardson, has always taken the time to commend his peers for exceptional performance, and through his recognition, they have received many unit citations. |
